Holy Family is a large, vibrant parish in the heart of South Pasadena.
When the time came to upgrade the sound system to support their growing music and broadcast ministries, we were proud to return and refresh the existing system we had installed almost 15 years prior.
The most immediate need of this upgrade was to support additional inputs for musical instruments in an area of the church far from the mixing board. We replaced their outdated mixer with a Yamaha LS9 digital mixer. The Yamaha StageMix app for iPad allowed us to provide out of the box support of the mixer for wireless control for the more technical users.
With the LS9 as the backbone of the system we were able add an EtherSound Stage Box to provide additional inputs at the performance location as well as needed monitor speakers. The EtherSound technology allowed us to connect over small, easy-to-hide Cat5 wiring. That was incredibly important in a 100 year old building where protecting the historic features was a top priority.
The addition of a Dante card to the mixer also allowed us to provide multitrack audio recording to the broadcast studio over existing Cat5 wiring, solving the problem of adding new wiring between buildings.
A Crestron control system allowed us to create simple presets for the less technical users of the system. Morning mass could be set up with one button press from a variety of locations around the church. A more complex web interface was available from iPads or computers should a more technical user need to take over at any time.
